When people read fashion blogs do they want more text or merely images?

When it comes to fashion, people will always have an insatiable appetite for images.  I know that when I read about a certain shoe or handbag, I always want to be able to see an image of the product and, ironically, the more in-depth it's described, the more I want to see a photo!  For this reason, I think that sadly people do want to see more images.

However, images on their own don't allow for the bigger picture.  So many blogging networks are full of images which don't credit the photographer or even the designer!  I feel that at the very least, captions should be included with this information, where possible.

Written pieces on fashion are important, they give a social, cultural and historic context to the visuals we are presented with.  I like to know where a designer has come from, their influences and whether they're conforming to current trends or being fashion forward, leading the pack.  So many catwalks are styled in a way which wouldn't be wearable on a day-to-day basis - see Christopher Kane's Spring/Summer 2011 neons - so I feel a written breakdown of trends can be important.

Finally, I think having an individual voice as a blogger is important.  I've just started my own fashion and wine blog, and I'm hoping the majority of it will be original content (easier in writing than images when it comes to fashion).  Anyone can reblog the same image, the same quote, the same screencap - so what's to stop people looking elsewhere for those images instead of on your blog?  No one will write exactly the same things as you so even if you have the same images, you can give your blog an individual identity through words.

One of the most hyped fashion bloggers is teenager Tavi and it's her individual voice which sets her apart from others.  Although she posts a lot of photos, there is rarely a post without a written paragraph or two, so an argument for writing lies there.
